At HIK Gaming, we take the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect, why, for how long, and how you keep control. It is compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and includes provisions for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

2. What data do we collect?
We limit collection to the strict minimum. Depending on your interaction with the site:
- Article comments: nickname, email address (not published), IP address at the time of the comment (anti-spam), comment content.
- Newsletter signup: email address only. No name, no profile.
- Contact form: name (or nickname), email, subject and message.
- Server logs: IP address, browser, page viewed, date/time. Anonymized within 30 days for aggregate statistics.
3. Why do we collect this data?
- Moderation: filter spam, maintain healthy debate in comments.
- Replying to your requests: processing messages received via form or email.
- Newsletter delivery: only if you have given explicit consent (opt-in).
- Anonymized analytics: measure audience (most-read pages, languages consulted) without profiling users.
- Security: detect intrusion attempts or abuse.
4. On what legal basis?
- Consent for the newsletter and any non-strictly-necessary cookies.
- Legitimate interest for moderation, security and anonymized statistics.
- Performance of an implicit contract for replies to contact requests.
5. How long do we keep your data?
- Comments: 5 years after publication, then nickname and IP are anonymized.
- Server logs: 12 months maximum.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe (a link is included in every email).
- Contact messages: 24 months after the last exchange.
6. With whom do we share your data?
We never sell your data. We share it only with strictly necessary technical processors:
- Hostinger International Ltd. (Cyprus, EU) — site hosting and database storage.
- No other provider at this time. Any change will be announced in this policy.
7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
You have the following rights at any time:
- Access to the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification of inaccurate data
- Erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restriction of processing
- Portability in a structured format
- Objection to processing
- Withdrawal of consent at any time, without justification
- California residents: right to know, right to delete, right to opt out of any sale (we don’t sell — see section 6)

8. Protection of minors
HIK Gaming is intended for people aged 16 and over. Minors under 16 should not create an account, sign up to the newsletter or comment without parental consent.

The site uses HTTPS (TLS) for all communications. Backups are encrypted. Data access is limited to site administrators and requires strong authentication.

This policy may evolve to adapt to new services or legal requirements. The last update date appears at the top of this page. For significant changes, newsletter subscribers will be informed.
